So me and my dearest auxiliary Taiga, (the piano), are on a musical journey to find and explore the feelings of balance and juxtaposition in life through music, whilst also delving headfirst into the strange, unknown and if possible: the divine!
Examples of this I often think about are: light and dark, a cold draft whilst in a warm bed, melancholic contentment, beauty in moments of solitude, rainstorm in a parked car, synchronicities, the blessing and curse of perfectionism, angels and demons, which on that last note the great Jacques Valee said: "You can't have one without the other", which in a greater sense, could be life and death...
As a young teenager, before I could barely play a note on the guitar or piano, or could be called anything close to a musician, I would obsess with audio manipulation and sonic art, stretching sound, making samples, layering them and creating soundscapes, to soothe myself to sleep mostly. If I ever kicked up a fuss as a baby, my parents would leave me in the car or my bedroom and play classical music, which worked like a charm as I would be conked out in no time flat!
As time pushed on and I started playing in bands in school and beyond, making friends with other musicians and creative people, it was clear this is something that will never die and I will always pursue, always chase beauty as much as I can, regardless of the circumstances.
Most notable bands I indulged in over the years both pro and semi pro were Sissy and The Blisters and Lady & The Lost Boys, so vastly different but equally valuable, helped create Taiga and The Tundra.
So here we are! Along with Taiga, weird sound design and various acoustic instrumentation we’re on the task of capturing these fleeting, intangible and sometimes inexplicable moments and emotions, giving just enough space to live inside of it, that's the goal...!
Largely inspired by (too much to mention) French Impressionist & Contemporary/Minimalist composers such as Ravel, Debussy and Arvo Pärt, piano resonance, the UFO/UAP phenomenon, great books/films and the majestic awe of the prehistoric highlands.
